The Birthday Massacre at Mod Club

May 17, 2009 @ the Mod Club

I was thrilled to see The Birthday Massacre play in their hometown of Toronto last night at the Mod club theatre. Last night was the last show of their “Show and Tell Tour” and it was part of the first annual Viva Los Muertos festival. The opening acts included PURRR and A Primative Evolution.

I’ve been wanting to see TBM for such a long time and they fully lived up to my expectations on every level.  TBM is great because they got straight to business promptly after the opening acts were done. They didn’t let their diehard fans wait for 30 minutes or an hour to hit the stage.

The Mod club had no photopit so I had to torpedo my way to the front of the stage. The lighting in his venue is superb as many other photographers would concur. It was actually a well behaved crowd for a band this energetic. TBM pumped life and thunder into the Mod right from the get go with their hit “Red Stars”. Lead singer Chibi engaged her fans with the occasional microphone sharing and high fives (I got one too!) .

I can’t wait to see them again in the future!
