Aside from sounding great KT was on top of her game with plenty of banter for the audience that in her words “could have been at the Bieber show”. KT Tunstall and her backing band represented the new album completely by playing all of it’s tracks including the pop-y “Uummannaq Song” and “Fade Like A Shadow”. KT explained writing “Madame Trudeaux” after hearing about Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau’s wife had run off with the Rolling Stones.
Tunstall mentioned how she knew she’d done well after realizing her next song was “popular at jazzersice class” and had “made it to number one on the line dancing chart” before ripping into fan favourite “Black Horse and The Cherry Tree”. KT also mentioned she had done a lot of soul searching while recording “Tiger Suit”. A recurring theme seemed to be her uncompromising outlook evident throught the night including the encore where she mentioned that she didn’t believe in guilty pleasures, “just pleasure, guilt is separate” she exclaimed before covering 80s band Erasure’s “A Little Respect”.
