When Lights first hit the music scene in 2008, no one would suspect this aspiring singer/songwriter would turn out to be an electro-rock queen. The Toronto based singer has been touring for a month and half in support of her second album, Siberia. And what better way to end off a tour than in a city you calls home.
It’s been awhile since I’ve seen Lights in concert so I didn’t know what to expect. But the moment she walked onto the stage, she rocked the house with just her appearance. The crowd went wild as she performed “Banner” which led straight into fan favourites “Second Go” and “Ice”.
The petite singer has never been more stunning. She kept everyone on their toes with her pretty melodies and dirty beats.Throughout the evening she expressed her love for Toronto. “This is home” she said and was more than happy to be back. In honour of the night she wanted everyone to sing along as she performed “Drive My Soul” and so they did.
During the second half of the show, Lights slowed things down by playing her softer material. Lighters were lit and the audience swayed as they listened. This moment beautifully showcased Lights singing abilities. The girl can definitely sing. The rest of the evening was a mixture of old and new songs. Fans appreciated both.
The whole concert was amazing. It seems as though Ms Poxleitner has finally found her trademark and is in a happy place. She ended the night with “Lions” and an acoustic version of “February Air”.
