Colin James at Massey Hall

Canadian Juno award winner Colin James performed in front of a sold-out Massey Hall in Toronto tonight, performing songs from his new album ‘Hearts On Fire’ and some classic songs going way back to his 1988 album ‘Sudden Stop’, James didn’t disappoint the Toronto crowd with his fabulous guitar skills and powerful vocals.

James opened the show with a great version of ‘Honey Bee’ and the song ’44’, both songs supported with some great harmonica skills. James didn’t waste time and went right into the song ‘Just A Little Love’ and ‘Watching the River Run’ before introducing his latest single and album title ‘Hearts On Fire’. James showed his wicked slide guitar skills and showed us why he has been around for so long.

The busiest guy at the show appeared to be James’ guitar tech who kept busy tuning the guitars and bringing out a new one after every song. James had more guitar changes than Katie Perry has costume changes during a show. James performed 18 songs and had 17 guitar changes, possibly the most i’ve ever witnessed. Another busy guy was a 50+ year-old man that loved taking pictures with his camera sitting in the 2nd row. Annoying as it is, it was beyond funny when he decided on holding his camera phone with touch screen and beer. The man wasn’t talented enough to not spill beer all over himself while attempting to touch his focus screen, it was priceless.

James played 90-minutes and showed his whole range of vocals and guitar styles throughout the show including hits like ‘Why’d You Lie’ and ‘Keep On Loving’, two of my favorite Colin James songs.

Colin James will be in Kitchener Friday 13th, North Bay 14th, and Thunder Bay on the 16th. If you are in the area and can get tickets, it would be a really great show to go and see live.
