Dallas Smith Rocks the Bandshell as 2015 CNE Closes

Written by Darlene Altmann.

The crowd was ready to party on September 6 2015, at the CNE and the boys came to play. Another great night at the CNE for hottest concert! of 2015 The temperature almost reached 40 degrees with the humidity for an outdoor event, but when Cold Creek took to the stage no one seemed to mind being in a heat wave of sweat.

Cold Creek County was the perfect band to get the party started as they warmed up the already hot crowd. They were interacting with the crowd and very excited to be playing in Toronto, opening up for Canadian favorites Dallas Smith.  It was  one big beach party with drinking, gigantic beach balls flying through the air and good country music.  They sang their first single from their debut release, “Our Town.”  Their music is a mix of country and rock and the band is Canadian All the boys live just outside the GTA from Hasting, Stratford to Burlington, having won the 2014 Country Group of the Year. This may have been the most anticipated concert at the CNE Bandshell as the crowd was huge and still gathering, standing room only!   In a concert review I normally don’t  talk  about when the  band introduce it members, that when I usually write some points but Cold creek is a little special. They like to have a little shot with the fans. Tonight they use  Red Solo Cup, not sure how big the shot was but it keep the part going until Dallas came out.

Dallas Smith drew in the crowd and took to the stage just after 8:30 with their song “Slow Rollin” and “If it Gets You”. They played a 90 min set   that was high energy and loud!  The audience loved them, standing on top of their seats and dancing and singing along with the band.  What a great way to end the 137th CNE and go out with a bang!  Dallas had a young couple come up from the audience and the man proposed , she was in tears but she did say yes and Dallas started singing his hit “Girl Like You.”    He also sang his new song “Kids With Cars” while taking selfies.    Definitely the boys were having an awesome time on stage interacting with their fans!  They sang “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons and   their grand finale was “Tippin Point.”    This was the rowdiest crowd I’ve seen at the CNE this year, that includes the night before with Hamilton own rock band  Monster Truck only fitting to have them perform on the last night of concerts on the Labour Day weekend!  Great show.
