Hollywood Vampires at Casino Rama

The guitars were loud the lights were bright and the audience was mesmerized!  A lot of rock n roll, some blues and a whole lot of stars graced the Casino Rama stage on Friday night and I was more than happy to be there.  This was one unforgettable experience to say the least, and I felt honoured to be in the presence of such amazing individuals.  Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, and Joe Perry stood on the Casino Rama stage and owned every inch of it.  7 guys on stage and they gave it there all from the very first note to the very last note, 1.5 hours of pure amazing music

Hollywood Vampires, super group, was formed by Alice Cooper in 2015 releasing a debut studio album in 2015, with 3 originals songs and a powerhouse of cover songs, “My Generation”, “Whole Lotta Love”, and “School’s Out” just to name a few.  All paying tribute to the many musicians who have lost their lives.

Matt Sorun (Guns N’ Roses/Velvet Revolver), Robert DeLeo (Stone Temple Pilots), Tommy Henriksen (Alice Cooper) and Bruce Whitken rounded out this super group with ease, adding their own personal flare to each song.

The women were by far the loudest in the audience standing in awe starring at Johnny Depp.  Johnny humoured as many as he could by blowing kisses to the numerous hard core fans in the front row as he made his guitar scream.  I have to admit I may or may not have been one of them, I mean really when do you get a chance to see Johnny Depp up close and personal.

Alice is the ultimate front man and has been since the first moment he steps onto the stage.  Wearing his iconic black leather pants and red top looking exactly the way we want him to look. He is witty and charming and knows exactly what to say and when.   Just before Hollywood Vampires started “Ace of Spades” (Motörhead) Alice said “For a good friend that recently passed away, Lemmy said to me “Alice I quit drinking whiskey I drink vodka now”” This immediately got cheers from the exuberant crowd.

One of the highlights of the night for me was  when Joe Perry, during an amazing version of “My Generation”, smashed the crap out of a seafoam green guitar. It was right at this point of the night I jumped out of my seat and screamed my head off.  I wasn’t alone in my sentiment as the thousands of fans did exactly the same.

Now on to Johnny Depp, wearing black jeans with scarfs and chains hanging from them. A short sleeved red striped top and black vest, looking very much like the “rockstar” he is.  Forget about Johnny the “movie star” he played the role of his life as a full fledged “rockstar”.  I did get a kick out of Johnny while he was playing his guitar he sauntered to the edge of the stage where an unsuspecting security guard, doing his job with his back to the stage,  got his headphones slowly nudged off his head, when the security guard turned around he received a huge smile from Mr. Depp.

The night was a huge success for Casino Rama and for all the fans in attendance.  I can pretty much guarantee not one person left disappointed.  This being their only Canadian date, I highly suggest you hit the border if you can and immediately buy tickets to this amazing show.  At the end the evening Alice said to the fans “If we didn’t play your favourite song they aren’t dead yet…” “Thank you so much it’s fun being in a bar band again.” And walked off the stage.

Once again thanks to the crew because without them there is no show.
