From The Artist : “Our new single, Ghost of Love, is about the being haunted by the prospect of not finding a meaningful relationship. The pre-chorus “just a little bad luck, been a long time coming. Trying to find a little new love, coming up with nothing. In the back of my mind, always haunted” sums up the overall theme of the tune. On the music side of things, we’re really stoked with how the song ended up taking on a retro R&B/Sock-hop vibe. We hope you dig it too!”
“Ghost of Love” is taken from the band’s upcoming LP Tough Luck which is set for release March 9th. Following the band’s last release, Scenic Route to Alaska has amassed an impressive pile of achievements and accolades. The band’s catchy vocals, memorable melodies, and rich arrangements have led to label signings, number ones on CBC Radio, and award nods.
They’re continuing the momentum with the new collection of 10 tracks which were recorded with famed producer Howard Redekopp (Tegan & Sara, The New Pornographers). Lyrically, the new album tackles the unique lifestyle they share as touring musicians – contemplating themes of self-inflicted loneliness and fleeting relationships.
New single ‘Ghost of Love’ is an infectious earworm that deals with those matters in a poetic manner. Sonically punchy and uplifting melodically, this tune is ready for summer modern rock radio rotation. On first listen you’re struck with how immediate the song’s vision is fully realized, like it’s always been with you, sitting in the far reaches of your cerebral cortex. Each musical element perfectly complements each other, bouncing effortlessly along as any worthwhile pop nugget should. ‘Ghost of Love’ is an exquisite reminder to eagerly anticipate Scenic Route to Alaska’s new album.
