Lights at The Danforth Music Hall

Lights brought her world of Skin&Earth to life as she performed at the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto for two back-to-back nights.

The stage was set up with a big screen that lit up behind her as she teleported the sold out venue into the world she created in her new album & comic book series. Lights delivered a well-rounded set list covering all aspects of her career as she performing songs such as ‘Savage’, ‘Second Go’, and ‘Siberia’. Throughout the night the screen featured clips from her comic books to keep the audience engaged as she transitioned between songs, telling the story of Enaia (En) Jin on her search for hope in a world where it seems lost. Someone even came out on stage to deliver a pizza box that contained her synthesizer as she teased the crowd with the intro to ‘Up We Go’. Keeping the audience on their toes, Lights even went down to the barricade to sing to multiple fans during her performance.

Slowing things down for a bit, we were also treated to a mini acoustic set where she performed ‘Banner’, ‘Drive My Soul’, and ‘Muscle Memory’. During her performance of ‘Drive My Soul’, Lights recalled her time living in Toronto and shared with us the story of when she heard her own song on the radio for the very first time, which happened to be while she was driving along Bloor Street.

As someone who grew up in Toronto, it’s been amazing to see how much Lights has grown as an artist over the years. I’ve always appreciated her ability to take her music and push the boundaries to set it apart from the norm. Her creativity, passion and attention to details has always been very evident with everything she’s ever done, but it shines even more so on the We Were Here Tour. Be sure to catch Lights’ We Were Here Tour as she continues across North American until April. It’s definitely something you won’t want to miss.
