Video Premiere: “Desolation Sound” by daysormay

Desolation Sound is the latest visual from Vernon, BC, band daysormay

Featuring lead actor Jamie Andrews, the band’s latest music video explores the deeper and darker concepts within the final track from their 2016 EP ‘TALK PEACE TO A WOLF’.

The video was conceptualized by daysormay, and was shot, directed, and edited by lead singer Aidan Andrews and febnuki (daysormay’s video team).

Shot over three days in the middle of the Okanagan winter, Desolation Sound gives the viewer a look into the frustration and conflict that is so central to TALK PEACE TO A WOLF.

The video also pulls off an impressive water sequence, shot in the freezing 4°C waters of the Okanagan Lake, Andrews explains:

“The original plan was to shoot in late summer, but after running into some logistical roadblocks, we had to push the shoot dates back to December. The original treatment involved all these water sequences that required Jamie to be fully submerged. I still really wanted to shoot those, but I was worried it would be too cold for him to do. We left it up to him, and he was so into it that we went ahead and got everything we needed in one take. Those are my favourite scenes.”

This is not the first time the band has self-produced their own videos, with 2016’s Darkerside music video being directed and filmed by bassist Nolan Bassett, as well as their // 2017 webisode series, which is produced entirely by daysormay and febnuki.

Desolation Sound is the fifth and final music video for the band’s five-song EP, ‘TALK PEACE TO A WOLF’, which is available everywhere.
