Barrie, ON rock band The Alpacas were the first stop on my CMW schedule for 2018. Their very upbeat music was filled with cuts mostly from their album The Best is Behind You, which was released in 2016 and features the track Cab Fare that was premiered by Live in Limbo. The band also played a few covers including The Raconteurs’ Steady As She Goes and Bruce Springsteen’s Dancing in the Dark. The show also featured some playful banter from frontman Greg Lee and his brother, guitarist Brent Lee as they graded each other on how they performed songs giving each other hilariously low scores despite sounding fantastic. New music appears to be on the horizon as they played a new track that Greg Lee mockingly described as a “20-minute jazz fusion number”, which ended up being just another great all out rock track.
