Album Premiere : “Give Up The Gold” By Jesse and the Dandelions

From The Artist : “We are beyond excited to share the new Jesse and the Dandelions record Give Up The Gold. The songs have been incubating for well over a year now and I can’t wait to hear what people think of them. The songs are personal and hopefully hint towards a new direction of songwriting that more people can enjoy, while still leaving plenty of sonic easter eggs for the types that are into aural scavenger hunts”

Psychedelic rock has been making a huge resurgence in recent years, starting with Tame Impala (and all of their offshoots like Pond and GUM) to King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard with their monster 2017, which saw them release a staggering five albums. Edmonton’s Jesse and the Dandelions last released 2016’s True Blue and are back with a brand new album exploring psychedelia in more abstract ways, while still putting their own unique spin on the genre. The album is beautiful and stunning climaxing with a soaring string section on the albums final track Barking Up the Wrong Tree. Already released single Give Up the Gold is a hazy lo-fi synth pop number. The album looks to be the band’s most ambitious and biggest release to date and will surely make waves on the Canadian indie scene.

The album comes out on September 7th, and we are proud to present the exclusive stream of the album before anyone else hears it. The band worked with producer Nik Kozub (Shoutoutoutout), and was recorded at Audio Department in Edmonton. This was Jesse and the Dandelions first time working with a hired producer, who encouraged the band to be more selective in their production choices to intentionally create a more simplified album that resulted in this record’s ethereal glow.

To celebrate the band is having a release party at Ckua Performance Hall in Edmonton on September 15th before embarking on an Alberta tour and then Toronto in October.
