From The Artist : : Growing up in a small Connecticut town of 13,000, my evenings were usually spent at theatre rehearsals for a handful of roles in many musicals and plays. Some of my favourites included lead roles in Beauty and the Beast, Urinetown, and Dracula.

My debut single, “Wish I Could See,” blends in my theatrical background as the lyrics are grounded in truth, but are very character based. I composed the song and play flute on it. My producer Stefano Pando and I incorporated many instrumental elements into the song, based on all the genres of music that has inspired us both through the year.

The video for “Wish I Could See” is character driven where I’m playing a role. It felt like performing on stage, since the entire video was shot in one take. Like theatre, I had to embrace everything that happened in the moment and remember the choreography.

Madelline grew up in Connecticut and sang as a soloist in her high school choir. During her senior year, she toured Italy, along with the chorus group singing in renowned venues such as The Duomo in Florence, and The Vatican in Rome.

She now lives in Montreal and is recording an upcoming EP titled Marvelously Moody. Her debut single “wishicould see” blends in her theatrical background – the lyrics are grounded in truth, but are very character based.

‘wish i could see’ blends a vocal performance of an artist very comfortable in her skin with an otherworldly production style. The song sways with old-school charm, something a little mysterious, but ultimately confident. There’s a sexy trip-hop swagger combined with an almost creepy, unsettling undertone. The video is able to exemplify these competing angles. We’re transported into a room filled with candles (NOTE: fire hazard!), natural dim light, antiques, all the while Madelline glides around the room, owning every inch of the frame.

It’s rare that an artist comes out of the gate so self-assured. Madelline’s ‘wish i could see’ is a stunning introduction, and we can’t wait to see how she’ll spellbind us next.
