2021 Lush Holiday Haul

Went into Lush the other day to replenish my stash of Halloween goodies, and was greeted with practically the entire 2021 Holiday collection front and center of the store. It feels like all the holiday items were released extra early, and previous years I remember the line coming out closer to Halloween, and a lot of my Christmas staples such as the ‘Golden Wonder’ and ‘World’s Smallest Disco’ bath bombs seem to have disappeared. But nonetheless, I was excited to see what the new collection looked like and pick up a few things.

The first thing that I grabbed when I saw the display was the Snow Cake Shower Jelly. For years I had heard people raving about the Snow Cake bar soap, and took the plunge last year by grabbing a few bars during the annual boxing day sale. It smelled of almonds and oatmeal, I honestly understood why so many people loved it. When I got home it was the first thing that I wanted to try, and was extremely disappointed. The shower jelly smells nothing like the soap from the previous year as the only thing that you can smell is the sickly sweet caramel layer in the middle. The marzipan / almond scent is completely lost in the container. The design of this shower jelly is also a miss for me as the three layers come apart. I understand that with a large jelly it would probably be easier to handle in the shower, but that leaves me more inclined to throw out the bottom two layers and only keep the almond one. They honestly should have just left it as a bar soap, I’ve seen people order whole loaves of it at Christmas time, so why ruin a good thing?

Now that we have the elephant out of the room, time to move on to happier things. First up we have ‘I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas’, I felt like this sold out fairly quick last year, so I’m happy that I was finally able to get my hands on one. It has a delightfully fruity scent and contains almonds, grapefruit and raspberry. According to the website, raspberry is the key not in this bomb but I don’t really smell that. It’s just sweet and fruity without any particular fruit jumping out.

If you’re a fan of the Intergalactic bath bomb or the ‘Outback Mate’ soap, you’re going to be a fan of Snowball. This bath bomb in new for 2021 and is pressed by hand to give it a organic snowball look. It contains specks of blue and glitter on the outside, while creating bath art that will leave your bath water a beautiful shade of blue. The bomb smells bright and refreshing as it contains peppermint and eucalyptus oil.

Jingle Bells is another new bomb for 2021 and is scented with the beloved ‘Baked Alaska’ scent. It’s packed with grapefruit, ylang ylang, and lemon oils, and contains sea salt crystals in the middle.

Santa’s Magic Sleigh is an interesting concept. On top of being a mega bath bomb that can be used all at once, this is the first time that I can recall Lush making each component of one of these mega bombs different scents. Usually they are all scented the same when they come out with a mega bomb, but this time around Lush has changed it up and scented the sleigh like ‘Comforter’, Santa as ‘Snow Fairy’, and the bear as ‘Butterbear’. It will be interesting to see how these scents play together all at once in the tub. I’d also recommend picking this up in store if you can, as it’s really fragile and I feel like it’s something that would get damaged in transit.

Snow Fairy Lights is scented with the classic ‘Snow Fairy’ scent. It also happens to be a mega bomb that you can use all at once for one luxurious bath, or break it down into three parts to spread it out. You have the blue topper as one bath bomb, the outer shell as another, and then inside the shell is filled with a bunch of little bath fizzies. This is a must for anyone who loves the Snow Fairy scent.

Last in this haul we have the Cinnamon Roll bubble bar. This bubble bar reminds me of cinnamon hearts you get on Valentines day, and I’m excited to try this out. It’s really cozy and feels like the perfect bubble bar for a cool Fall evening.

Over all, I’m pretty surprised at the early release of the Holiday collection and wasn’t expecting them to change up the line so much. I feel like a lot of items we are use to seeing have disappeared such as ‘Golden Wonder’, which is nice for a change, but it feels pretty drastic when it has been a staple for many of the previous years. It’s fun to try out all these new products, but hopefully we’ll see a small return of things like the ‘Golden Wonder’ bath bomb, Snow Cake in bar soap form, and ‘World’s Smallest Disco’ next year!
