Denzel Curry at Rebel

Sept 28th is, the first official week into the fall season, and a little energy boost is needed. Walking to the venue in the dark adds extra fun to a set I’m looking forward to. Rebel, the concert venue isn’t personally a favourite of mine, based strictly on sightlines for a concert but considering it’s a club venue, it will be the perfect location for capturing the energy that Denzel Curry provides.

In celebration of Denzel’s 5th album release ” Melt My Eyes See Your Future” The Florida Hip Hop artist is bringing the ” Melt My Eyez” tour through the city. The anticipation of seeing him live is electric. This show is two years in the works due to the Pandemic and the excitement is resonating with each person in the venue.

Walking on stage rocking a Black T and|cargo pants, mic high in the air with a big smile on his face, Denzel went straight to work.The crowd went off and matched his energy. The explosion of Denzel’s lyrics matched word for word by almost everyone in my view. The venue was buzzing at a level I haven’t felt in a while and building with each track. Starting his set with Three tracks from his new album, he got all the fans, new and old into the flow of what would be a crazy, fun set filled with Moshpits and waves of energy flowing toward the stage.

The most important and admirable part of the set was Denzel’s concern for the safety and health of his fans. Asking everyone in the venue to collectively take Five steps back to make sure no one was getting hurt in the front rows. He spoke out about his battle with mental health and expressed that it’s Ok to not be Ok. Seeing an artist speak about his personal experiences is powerful and I gained a huge respect for not just an artist but a human being

The night was energetic, expressive, and full of life and love for a connection to art and music. Denzel Curry is an artist you must experience live. It’s not just a concert, it’s a complete sensory experience.
