Concert Review: Distant Worlds Music from Final Fantasy

It was most definitely a fun event. The Legendary Final Fantasy composer himself, Nobuo Uematsu was in attendance as Grammy award-winning conductor Arnie Roth took us on a roller coaster of our favorite songs from the series. Ultimately, this was an amazing multimedia experience as the graphics of various Final Fantasy games complimented but did not detract from the live orchestra. My personal favorite of the night was “To Zanarkand” from FFX.

Almost every Final Fantasy game from 1-14 was represented last night. Even if one wasn’t a fan of the video games, one could absolutely appreciate the brilliant music being played by the 50-piece Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony.

The Stage setup

Besides the long legacy, memorable characters, grand storylines and breath taking visuals, the Final Fantasy series is well known for it’s inspiring music. Whether it be a overarching opening theme or battle tune, the music is what sets the theme for every Final Fantasy video game.

Last night, the “Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy” tour checked into Toronto, Canada at the Sony Centre for Performing Arts to a fully packed hall with the most loyal fans of the series. They even had “Sphere pizza” and “Mage wings” for the hungry!
