Angry, questioning lyrics sound off a voice of a generation as Matthew questions policies, governments, socity and even himself all while maintaining music that just feels right to listen to. In the same sonic voyage though there are messages of inspiration and hope.
More than anything else, the album just flows marvellously. When the opening track, Last Parade, comes full swing it is only the beginning over a river of music that will take you from beginning to end seamlessly; which furthers my feeling of this being more of a fluid, musical journey rather than a compilation of individual songs.
Also a nice addition: the album is pretty lengthy. This is not one of those frequent CD experiences where you’ll pop it into your CD player then half an hour (if that) later it’s all over, instead it’s a very deliberate and thoughtful album that’s not rushing to convey its message then fade into the darkness.
It also helps that every track on this album is great.

The problem with trying to find a handful of favourite tracks on such a wicked CD… is just choosing a handful. I love this album. It’s thoughtful, beautiful, haunting and still has the elements of rock that we’ve come to love from Matthew Good

Like all of Good’s other releases, the music still is continuing to evolve. New elements are being continually added to the mix of the familiar, but the blend is so perfect that the old doesn’t get lost in the new, while the new doesn’t upstage the old.
The album has beautiful melodies, rocking progressions, catchy hooks and haunting sequences, making this entire album an experience. Vancouver isn’t so much an album as it is an audible adventure, I know that sounds cheesie but it’s true; you can get lost in this album.
