The Balconies are an indie rock/pop trio to be reckoned with. Not only have they streamlined the basics of a band into three people – guitar, bass guitar, drum – but they bring more energy to their live performances than groups with double the members. With wild curly hair, tight jeans, and a black sequined number on top, frontwoman Jacqueline Neville had all eyes on her as she took the stage at Barracuda Pretty into the early evening. The group ran through song after song with energy and enthusiasm and there wasn’t a toe not tapping in the entire venue. It’s hard to pinpoint what made the entire performance mesmerizing, probably a combination of the music itself with these three charismatic beings moving on the stage. Whatever it is The Balconies are doing, it’s working, and their performance should be ranked as one of the top sets during this year’s festival. More photos after the page jump!
