Polansky eliminated in first round of Rogers Cup

TORONTO – Thornhill, ON native Peter Polansky looked to put away Australia’s Matthew Ebden in the first-round match of the 2012 Rogers Cup held at Rexall Centre, however did not meet his expectations. While being able to win the first set, Ebden was able to plow through Polansky to win the match 0-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Despite his loss, Polansky can be proud to be a Canadian tennis player on the rise with his wild-card entry and performance. “In the first set, his level just, he just wasn’t there,” Polansky remarked. After the second set, Ebden changed gears and just dominated from there and out. He is be facing American Olympic silver medalist, Mardy Fish in the next round at the Rogers Cup.

Polansky ranks no. 155 at his career-high. “I still need to work on just being more consistent,” he said. “Not from my groundstrokes but just my level of play and being able to keep up my good level for three, four matches in a row.”
