Japandroids is a Canadian rock band originating in Vancouver, in 2006. Members include Brian King on guitar and vocals, and David Prowse on drums and vocals. The two met in 2000 and would regularly attend shows together, which led to the formation of their band. They originally intended to look for a third member as the main vocalist but then decided to share the role. They promoted and booked shows themselves, as there is a lack of support for the music scene in Vancouver.
Currently, they are with label Anti. The label was founded in 1999 by Andy Kaulkin, and they support a variety of different genres. They have signed artists such as Solomon Burke, Bettye LAVette, and Marianna Faithfull.
This week, I chose their new single “No Know Drink Or Drug”. This Alternative Punk track contains some cool riffs, and background vocals. The song is basically about how loving someone, and how no drink or drug could make up for that. My favourite part of the whole song would just be the overall sound of the vocals, and the background “sha na na na” throughout the song.
