From The Artist : “Upside Down is an ode to the decline of our modern world and our values, which for us was punctuated by the US Presidential election, and the fallout thereafter. Everything is so backward lately, we think many of us are feeling it, no matter which side you’re on. When Lexie was writing the lyrics, she couldn’t shake the imagery of Lady Liberty in bed with Donald Trump.”
Toronto-based duo FEATURETTE was formed by singer Lexie Jay and drummer, Jon Fedorsen. They continue to make emotionally charged, heavy hitting electro-pop that has us hitting repeat. New single ‘Upside Down” brings the hooks right out of the gate, making a nursery rhyme somehow a mysterious pop riddle. When the chorus culminates in a succession of synth stabs a wave of euphoria takes over. There’s a dreaminess that pervades every inch of the track, almost making the message a surreal, but thoroughly uplifting, 3 minutes of pop perfection. Anchored by gorgeous synth pads, and elevated by Lexie’s superb singing, ‘Upside Down’ is the anthem we need right now. Sometimes the best way out of a nightmare is to float back to a dream.
