Song Premiere : “Ender” by Galaa

From The Artist : “Ender” was inspired by the idea of how things endure over time and how desire exists in our everyday lives. Desire, which only exists in absence, propels things and people forward. “Ender” asks the question of what to do with the things you want when you have them.

The new single from St. John’s, Newfoundland band Galaa – made up of Romesh Thavanathan, Aley Waterman and Hey Rosetta’s Adam Hogan, Josh Ward, and Ashley Chalmers, occupies its own & distinct ambient space. Throbbing bass and luxurious synths set the stage for Waterman’s absolutely gorgeous vocals. There’s something deceptively subtle about the arrangements. On first listen, the complexity eludes you, but upon further inspection the layers of criss-crossing melodies paint a spectcular, multi-dimensional ear-worm. ‘Ender’ welcomes repeat plays.

The band formed in 2013 and quickly created a buzz around St. John’s with their EP “Young Hymns”. Galaa then sold out their first show and opened for acts including Tegan and Sara, Owen Pallett, Rich Aucoin, and DIANA. They then applied for MusicNL Sound Recording grant and won it, allowing them to spend the next year in and out of various studios in Newfoundland recording their forthcoming album “The Speech.”

‘Ender’ presents a stunning voice in pursuit of imaginative sonic resolution. It’s a great table setter for what looks to be a standout LP.
