Chris Hill and the Stardust Crush is a music community in Seattle. Chris does most of the writing, singing, and producing. There are no boundaries with this community, as genre has no place here. Music flows through them as it comes, taking inspiration from everywhere. They span from Pop/Rock to Rhythm and Blues to Middle Eastern and Jazz.
Chris’s newest song, “The Gravity of the Goddess (No One Else Can Dance Like You)” featured ambient sounds as well as a strong piano driving the song forward. His instrumentation and vocals provide a Pink Floyd style of music and writing with some Radiohead sprinkled in. “The piano part made me think about a specific friend going through a hard time and I realized the song was writing itself to be encouraging to them…I was just along for the ride,” Chris shares.
The song is about finding hope even when you feel there isn’t any. He wants people to know that the dark times will be over, you just need to walk through the fog. In his video, he gives us images of nature, the sky, and the moon. These images represent being lost and overwhelmed, as the vast forests and endless skies seem ever present and overpowering, wrapping us in uncertainty. But every so often, Chris pops up and guides us through to the other side, leaving hope and peace.
“‘The Gravity of the Goddess’ video reveals how things seemingly juxtaposed are actually connected at a deeper level,” shares Chris. “Such as walking through the woods day and night or a film of boxing juxtaposed against lyrics about dancing. A small spinning Earth travels through an evergreen forest located upon its own spherical body… It is still at home even as it travels and so are you. You will encounter obstacles along your own yellow brick road through space but you can overcome them by knowing your self-worth…This knowledge is the key to the Emerald City.”

This is not a special effect.” -Chris Hill
