Gregory Porter at Koerner Hall

Sitting around one afternoon, many years ago, watching Music Videos on T.V “Be Good” By Gregory Porter came on. This song and video instantly caught my attention. Although listed as a Jazz track, it had an R&B feel. I was intrigued by Gregory’s style and enamored by his vocals. From that moment on, I’ve been a fan.

I’ve wanted to see Gregory Porter live since 2012. After over 10 years of listening to him on a regular basis, It’s finally happening. A showcase artist at the 35th Toronto Jazz Festival and performing at Koerner Hall, the evening is set up to be absolutely perfect, and to be honest, it was Flawless.

There’s really not much in life that can compare to hearing your favouite tracks performed by one of your all-time Favourite artists. My high curiosity and expectations were easily met when hearing the incredibly powerful baritone vocals open up the night. Heartfelt stories of love and loss generated a connection and emotion in the intimate setting of Koerner hall and, made a night of incredible music memorable.

Gregory Porter is an artist who pushes the boundaries of traditional jazz and will open your eyes to how magical the music is. Seeing him live will elevate your love for his artistry and for myself, it’s put him in a class of his own. An absolutely brilliant experience!
