KASIA (Kasia Fryklund) is an artist and producer based in Vancouver, Canada. With a unique blend of high-energy and ground-breaking new sounds, KASIA’s music seamlessly fuses together elements of house, 432 healing frequencies, bass house and ethereal music through melodic synths and otherworldly tones to form a sound that is entirely her own.
As a classically trained pianist, KASIA has been honing her musical skills since the age of six. She has played in a variety of bands, including her first professional work as the lead singer for the synth pop group “Fan Death”. After deciding this sound wasn’t for her, she continued working at a distance with a producer in Argentina (Trimming Moods). This consisted of recording on the road while travelling for modeling in Miami, New York, Toronto, and Oregon.
After deciding to take more control of her musical direction, KASIA began producing music in 2021 and partnered with 9MM LABEL in Spain, 404 Deep House Records, and the all-female label Powher Sound, who signed her as a producer and mentor.
Today we’re excited to be teaming up with KASIA to give our readers and exclusive behind the scenes look at the creation process of her music video for ‘Heartstrings’!
Hey there, I’m KASIA, and I’m excited to give you an inside look at the making of the “Heartstrings” music video. Let’s dive deeper into the story behind the visuals and the message we aimed to convey.
The Inspiration:
“Heartstrings” is more than just a song to me – it’s a reflection of my own journey through challenging relationships. The lyrics were born from raw emotions and personal experiences, serving as a form of catharsis. Director of Photography Cliff Hokanson and I wanted to capture the essence of resilience and empowerment, drawing inspiration from real-life struggles and triumphs.
I was excited to be able to have Vancouver as the backdrop and was really fortunate to work with Cliff’s large film crew and studio. I ended up editing the video myself and doing all the post work – it was my first time using Final Cut Pro and has definitely inspired me to make more videos.
The Creation:
Despite working with a small budget, we were determined to bring our vision to life. Shot in the streets of Vancouver, the video showcases the city’s energy and diversity. From the casting process to the final edit, every aspect of production was a collaborative effort. We relied on DIY solutions and resourcefulness to overcome budget constraints, creating a sense of unity. Aside from the larger studio shoot, Cliff would come to my shows around Vancouver and film me on stage to get more footage for the music video. The entire film crew even came to film me at a mansion party I coordinated with a variety of DJs that also included sound healing with other healing modalities. The entire video was really fun to shoot! I love working on creative photoshoots and music videos – it’s definitely one of my favourite things!
The Audience:
With “Heartstrings,” I hope to connect with listeners on a deeper level. The video’s message of empowerment and resilience is meant to resonate with anyone who has faced adversity. Through the universal language of music and visuals, we strive to inspire others to find strength in difficult times and embrace their inner power. This is meant to be inspiring to all women who are having trouble in their lives and the many relationships we go through in life. We see ourselves as beautiful and wanting to be loved but sometimes it can feel like an endless chase; trying to find ourselves.
