Concert Review: Metric @ Molson Amphitheatre

They began the show with “Black Sheep”, “Poster of a Girl”, and “Satellite Mind”. Midway through the show Emily moved to a piano and played “Doctor Blind” and “Eclipse” with the help of a string quartet. The band ended of the set with an extended “Dead Disco”, “Sick Muse” and “Stadium Love” before they came back for their encore which was highlighted by an acoustic version of “Combat Baby” which featured a chorus of “Do do Doo’s” from the amphitheatre crowd. The complete band took the stage for a final bow while basking in some much deserved stadium love.

I was completely blown away by Metric when I saw them play last year at Massey Hall. The maturity displayed by the band and the exuberant performance put on by front woman Emily Haines was explosive. So yes I was very much looking forward to the show at Molson Canadian Amphitheatre. The thundershowers provided a much needed break in the heat earlier in the day which made for a wonderful evening for a show by the lake. Under a fantastic lightshow Metric dazzled fans with songs from their latest album “Fantasies” and a nice peppering of older material.
