Photos + Review: The Rocket Summer – Warped Tour 2010

Having never seen The Rocket Summer before, I wasn’t sure what to expect, even though many pop-punk fans have suggested I give them a listen. The Rocket Summer is the solo project of Bryce Avary, a 27-year-old from Dallas, Texas, who writes, produces, and plays every instrument on all of his records (pretty much a one-man band!). The live performance had Avary singing his heart out to a variety of catchy pop-punk tunes, while bouncing back and forth between the keyboard and guitar, never losing energy. The Rocket Summer is travelling with Warped Tour to promote the latest release, “Of Men and Angels”. The crowd’s energy was undeniable, and just the fact that such a large crowd didn’t mind standing in the rain to watch this pop-punk phenomenon says a lot about the growing popularity of this act in Canada. One thing is for sure – I would definitely spend the money the next time they come to perform in downtown T.O., and if you’re a fan of the pop-punk genre, you won’t be disappointed.
