Far East Movement at Molson Amphitheatre – Aug. 19, 2011

Far East Movement hit the stage last night opening for Lil Wayne at the Molson Amphitheatre. Despite having a very short set, FEM delivered a very energetic shortlist of their top hits such as “Like a G6” and “Rocketeer”. Rising to the top of the charts last year, FEM are the first Asian-American artists to reach Billboards #1 spot in history. By breaking this glass ceiling, we can all hope that their achievements and continued success in the industry keeps rolling into more Asian talent in hip-hop and as well as other music genres and arts.

On a personal level, being of east Asian descent myself, I was overly delighted to photograph them even if it was from the sound board. I’m probably making this sound pretty sappy, however, their ethic background is NOT what makes them successful. Their talent to consistently produce catchy beats in the hip-hop/rap/electronic fusion stream and align themselves with top notch artists such as Snoop Dogg, Dev and The Cateracs has propelled them from L.A underground clubs to international stardom.
