You Me at Six at The Phoenix Concert Theatre

UK rockers, You Me At Six gave Toronto the perfect ending to the Thanksgiving long weekend by performing at the Phoenix on Monday, October 13^th.  

Touring in support of their current album, Cavalier Youth, it great to see the young lads come far since their days of supporting other bands and a summer on Warped Tour.  Lead singer, Josh Franceschi is a true frontman, making eye contact with each person in the room, making you feel as if he’s singing the lyrics to you.  He went on about how we shared the Queen and doesn’t really understand what she does with her time.  He then started listing famous Canadians, giving Chad Kroeger a personal shout out.  

Cavalier Youth transforms harder through their live show better than the studio version.  The set list contained songs from past albums, crowd favourites such as “Underdog”, “Bite My Tongue”, and “Stay With Me”.  

Throughout the set, the band thanked the Toronto fans for sticking by them all these years and asked that they make friends with the people beside them.  From there, Franceschi asked that with those newfound friendships you get that person on your shoulders.  You started to see random bodies pop up on shoulders throughout the small area of the Phoenix. 

As YMAS entered the last bit of their set, they asked that everyone put away their phones and cameras to “live in reality”.  The floorboards creaked, as the audience jumped up and down, no phone or camera in sight.  

 The boys of You Me At Six have really shaped their live show over the years, playing up the songs that the fans want to hear in the sets and knowing what works for them.
