“Saw the Sun” by The Naive

Final Rating: 7/10

From the upbeat “Saw The Sun” featuring catchy horns, with vocal accents that ring like bells to the strings that swell across the opening of “Dirty Streets” – this 4-track EP is a collection of eccentric songs that have a little something for everyone.

January 25th, 2017 will see the official release of Toronto pop/jazz band, THE NAIVE’s debut EP “Saw The Sun.” The EP, named after its titular single “Saw The Sun” was conceptualized and produced by front woman Sintja who after contributing to several Toronto acts as a multi-instrumentalist and singer (Marlon Chaplin, Freeman Dre, Across the Board etc) has now stepped into the centre of her own project. The band also features Jeff Deegan on bass, Brandon Wall on guitar and Stefan Hegerat on drums.

THE NAIVE has offered four songs that show an elegant ear for arrangement and that each showcase Sintja’s beautiful soprano voice. With an eclectic mix of influence, this music carves its own little path through the noise. Each track has its own air of cool that is hard to define.

Highlight tracks include the more contemplative “The Moon” and debut single “Saw The Sun”.

Catch THE NAIVE live at their EP release show at The Piston in Toronto on January 25th. Details below.
