Game of Thrones Live in Toronto at Air Canada Centre

For one of the most beloved television shows of the decade, I wasn’t sure what to expect from Game Of Thrones The Live Concert Experience.

I half expected the audience to enjoy some cosplay and maybe see a couple Daenerys or Jon Snow look alikes but alas I was dissapointed.

Sprawlling three linked stages over the Air Canada Centre floor gave fans a 360 degree view of the performance but kept composer Ramin Djawadi and his orchestra were fixed at one end of the three stages. The other two were occupied by individuals at different periods of time playing cello, violin, and drums.

Above the stages were huge screens that recapped some of the shows essential moments with the biggest treatment going to the battle of the bastards.

The scenes incited cheers and boo’s from fans and long choruses of “shame” and it was evident that the live experience is a reward for fans vs an introduction to anyone new to the series.

The live experience included interactive highlights such as confetti snow flakes for those in the first few rows, a weirwood tree coming up from the stage and some unexpected pyro.

Overall the Live Concert Experience was enjoyable as a fan.

However I can’t help but think that the experience may have been better as a long running event on a smaller stage and a venue with better acoustics.
