From The Artist : There’s a little exhibitionism in “Watch Me”. I wrote the song after my band played a show at the Slipper Room in NYC, which has music in the early part of the evening followed by burlesque. I guess I was thinking about the girls who become burlesque dancers (which I admire). The music has just a little in common with all those 60s girl groups I admire, the Ronettes and Shirelles, etc. Producer Joshua Valleau added very cool, kinda retro synth touches when I told him to think “Private Dancer”.
