Concert Reviews

The Who at Scotiabank Arena

The Who visited Toronto on their ‘Moving On!’ tour and much to my surprised deployed a full orchestra to what would be and electrifying evening of great classics played under a new light. They glamour may be gone. Their youth too. However something that remains is how amazing their music sounds.

The stage set is sparse in comparison to previous Who concerts placing the emphasis on the orchestra and the large video screen that would show moments of the bands career thought the times.

Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey cruised through a nearly two hour set full of their perennial hits. The duo wasted no time in getting their fans rocking with ‘Pinball Wizard’ and the cascade of hits that followed. The rest of the evening was a mix of acoustic as well as orchestra led performances. Some moments featured the band with only minimal orchestra backing while others the full orchestra, particularly towards the end when the orchestra horn’s section rose to never before seen sights that made for a perfect end to the set.

Overall it was a night to remember. With an infectious energy that left the public satisfy and the band happy that despite time not slowing down they still have it.
