Alter Bridge with Skillet and Dirty Honey

Alter Bridge brought their Victorious Sky Tour with Skillet and Dirty Honey to the Rebel in Toronto.

With their new album, Walk the Sky, set to release on October 18th, fans were eager to see some new material live and the band didn’t disappoint. The lights dimmed and laser streaked across the stage as the band emerged while the opening track to their upcoming album, “One Life,” was played over the intercom. Throughout the night they also treated fans to 3 more new songs, “In The Deep,” “Pay No Mind,” and “Wouldn’t You Rather” which was met with a roar of approval as the whole venue sang along. It was awesome to see how familiar the crowd was with the new songs since the album hasn’t even been released yet.

The production as a whole felt like it was meant for an arena between the 8 large screens behind the band that changed their display and the lasers streaking across the venue. It was nice to see how they managed to make a venue like the Rebel feel like the Scotiabank Arena.

One thing I really enjoyed about Alter Bridge’s performance was how each band member seems to have an exceptional stage presence and everyone gets their chance to shine on stage. Most notably, was when the band performed “Waters Rising” which features guitarist, Mark Tremonti, on lead vocals. He took center stage as singer, Myles Kennedy, stepped to the side. That was a common theme throughout the night as it felt like everyone got a chance to be center stage. Toronto was also treated to hearing Tremonti performing lead vocals on “Burn It Down,” to give Kennedy a bit of a break as he was still recovering from a bug the week prior.

As the night came to a close, the band ended their set with their hit ”Open Your Eyes”.

Alter Bridge’s new album , Walk the Sky, will be available everywhere October 18th.
