Song Premiere : “Hate It Crave It” – Nina Lee

Nina Lee doesn’t know a life without music. She would sing from a young age to her father’s guitar. Music was the only constant in her life, it never waivered. She says “Music is 100% the place where I feel uninhibited and completely free to be myself.” We hear her passion when she charms us with her powerful vocals and entrancing music.

Her newest single and video for “Hate it Crave it,” out today, is an utterly relatable song about relationships, growth, beauty, and self acceptance. This R&B pop song showcases Nina’s songwriting and vocal talents, which is reminiscent of Adele and Miley Cyrus. Nina says, “The inspiration for ‘Hate it Crave it’ solely as a song was to write about relationships and personal growth. I think that it is a really relatable subject because people understand the fog in judgement that being in lust can have. Something you so desperately want to not want, but has just gotten under your skin. Everyone can insert their own story into this song in relation to what it means to them, and I wrote it from the perspective of what that feeling means to me.”

She sings “You put me on your pedestal, told me I was beautiful, so I caved” to show the growth. She may have allowed the significant other to treat her a certain way before, but now she’s learned from the past and her emotions. She says, “I want to talk to everyone who has never felt heard and let them know that what they are feeling is okay, that is all I have ever wanted to do through music.”

“Hate it Crave it” is a raw and moving song whose message can reach any audience. The music is strong and hooks you immediately. She is able to immerse you into the song and experience because of her talent.

From the artist
: “My goal in music, and in life, is to connect with people on a level deeper than the surface. Every time I write a song, that intention is at the forefront of my mind. My new song “Hate It Crave It” embodies a message of wanting something you know intellectually isn’t good for you, but is impossible to resist. I think that impulsivity and instant satisfaction especially for young people is a feeling we all know too well. One of my favorite lines in the song is “I’m not the easy type and you know I won’t give in. I won’t let you smoke in my bed, I won’t let you light a cigarette.” I love the juxtaposition that the heaviness of the lyrics holds, to the delicate way the track maintains an upbeat vibe. “
