Pitchfork Festival Day 3: Erykah Badu, Flying Lotus, Thundercat, The Weather Station

The last day of Pitchfork had some of the best bands of the weekend, from the mellow indie sounds of The Weather Station and Caroline Polachek to the chaotic rap stylings of Danny Brown (no joke, Danny Brown was jumping all over that stage). Thundercat had one of the best sets of the day, which shouldn’t surprise anyone who’s seen him before. The bassist/singer is a one-of-a-kind artist; his melodies are cool and soothing, while his lyrics tell the story of someone far more anxious. R&B superstar Erykah Badu closed the festival with a performance that truly set the bar for future Pitchfork lineups. Listening to Badu sing “On & On” with thousands of fans as her backup singers was one for the books. The lineup for Pitchfork 2022 better be stellar, because it’s going to be very hard to top 2021.
