Spooky Tea : A Mini Halloween DavidsTea Review

Nothing beats cozying up on a cool Fall evening with a nice cup of hot tea. I was ecstatic when I recieved an email from DavidsTea saying their 2021 Halloween line had just released. The last time I had purchased Halloween goodies from DavidsTea was the year that the tea tin pictured above was released. Needless to say, it’s been quite a few years. Luckily for my wallet, I didn’t care too much for the teaware in this year’s collection as neon colours on black seems to be this year’s trend ( Starbucks and Lush have also followed this colour scheme for 2021 ). The only cup I would have considered purchasing was the Haunted Castle Nordic mug, but maybe that doesn’t even count as new since the design is very similar to the tea tin from years ago. Despite being disappointed on the new teaware, I was pretty excited to try out a couple of the Halloween teas and ended up with two of them.

Monster Mash

Notes from the website :

  • Caffeine-Free
  • Inspired by pumpkin butter
  • Features cute moon + witch hat sprinkles

First Impressions:

Honestly? This wasn’t my favourite. With pumpkin, cinnamon, apple, carrot and ginger listed in the ingredients, I was expecting this tea to have a more earthy pumpkin pie flavour. It smells a little spicy in the bag, but once you brew it, it had more of a fruity taste which I wasn’t a fan of.

Witch’s Brew

Notes from the website :

  • Low Caffeine
  • Features bat + witch hat shaped sprinkles
  • Contains cocoa beans, elderberry flower, blackberry leaves and caramel flavouring

First Impressions:

I wasn’t 100% sold on this tea based off the description, but decided to take a chance on it due to the cute sprinkles, and I’m so happy that I did! My main concern was that it was going to be too chocolate-y with cocoa beans being the first ingredient listed, but that wasn’t the case at all. The chocolate flavour was very subtle, and the caramel ended up being the stand out flavour of this tea. It reminded me of their discontinued birthday cake tea.

Cotton Candy, Candy Apple, and Confetti Cupcake were also listed under this year’s Halloween release, but frequent steepers were given the chance to purchase them ahead of the official release back in the Summer. You can see my earlier review of those 3 flavours here.
