Behind The Song: “End Game” – Emma Kade

Emma Kade is an award-winning emerging Canadian Métis artist and songwriter from the small town of Crestonin the Kootenay region of British Columbia. Channeling sweet melodies with unforgettable lyrics, Emma loves to write music with intricate genre influences and relatable story telling to emotionally connect with a wide range of listeners. A prolific songwriter since her teenage years, Emma released her debut album, “Transparent” in 2015; a collection of songs written in her bedroom during high school. Like its title, the album was autobiographical and introspective, all while drawing lyrics inspiration from blues, country, pop, and folk music.

With the release of her 2024 single “End Game”, Emma’s new focus is on a fresh and distinct fusion of the country and pop genres that –like all of her music –reflects her artistic passion and sonic diversity.

We’re excited to be teaming up with Emma to give our readers and exclusive behind the scenes look at “End Game”!

Hey Live in Limbo! it’s Emma Kade! I’m a Pop Country artist based in Invermere, BC. I’m so excited to have you feature my new single, “End Game”.

The Inspiration
I’ve been a wedding singer for many years and sung countless brides down the aisle. It was kind of like an “always a bridesmaid never a bride” moment. When I got engaged and was in the process of planning my own wedding, the thought of singing at my own wedding was something that terrified me, but only seemed right. I wrote the song “End Game” as I found myself looking back on when my husband and I first met, and thinking how love can come so unexpectedly or just as soon as you stop looking. I have always been intrigued by how there’s so many people in the world, but when two people are meant to find each other, the universe will make it so.

The Creation
I wanted this song to be a unique blend of pop and country music; like two genres (or people) merging together into one. With the production, me and Nathan Chiu (producer) tried to emulate that “butterfly feeling” you get when you’re around someone you adore— all the highs and lows that a newfound love can bring. To create this, we added driving urban-sounding beats, warm acoustic and electric guitar, and lots of dreamy-layered vocals – especially in the chorus – that make you feel like you’re floating, just like falling in love.

The Audience
I want this song to make listeners reminisce on their own love stories or give inspiration that it could be right around the corner—just as it was for me.
