Extreme metal group Sinsaenum continue their unstoppable resurgence with the release of their explosive third single “Obsolete and Broken,” taken from their new studio album In Devastation, out August 8 via earMUSIC.
Following the raw intensity of “In Devastation” and the deeply personal “Last Goodbye,” this new track marks a powerful stylistic expansion for the band. Fierce and unrelenting at its core, “Obsolete and Broken“ also surprises with an emotionally charged clean vocal bridge — an unexpected moment of melodic vulnerability, underlined by the unusual presence of a sitar amidst the chaos. This balance of technicality, aggression, and melody defines the band’s new era.
“‘Obsolete and Broken’ is one the first songs I wrote for this new album,” says founding guitarist and songwriter Frédéric Leclercq (Kreator). “In my opinion, it has all the elements that define our new direction. It is melodic yet aggressive, it has intricate/technical parts, the bridge has clean vocals and guitar, and I’m particularly proud of the solo section which took me quite a while to get right. Lyrically, the song is more sci-fi based, which is also unusual for us.”
With lyrics depicting domination, decay, and a dystopian uprising, “Obsolete and Broken” adds a narrative edge to Sinsaenum’s discography.
