Multi-platinum rock band Simple Plan have announced an all-new show at RBC Amphitheatre in Toronto this summer season, bringing their energetic pop punk sound to the city’s premier outdoor venue on Thursday, August 20th. The Toronto show will feature a reunion with long time friends Marianas Trench as well as 3OH!3 and Bowling for Soup as the supporting acts.
Produced by Live Nation Canada, the show is set to take place while the band is on the road headlining the 2nd leg of their “Bigger Than You Think!” Tour throughout the US. Kicking off Friday, July 24th in Las Vegas, the “Bigger Than You Think! – The Sequel!” Tour continues Simple Plan’s 25th-anniversary celebrations with the kind of all-gas-no-brakes live show that has cemented the band as one of pop punk’s most beloved acts for more than two decades. Delivering a career-defining setlist including hits like I’m Just a Kid, Welcome to My Life, Summer Paradise, Perfect and many more. See below for the full Bigger Than You Think Tour US tour dates.
The Toronto show will feature a reunion of sorts with special guests Marianas Trench as well as 3OH!3 and Bowling for Soup as the supporting acts.
“We couldn’t be more excited to finally come back and play a proper headline show in Toronto for the first time in almost 10 years,” says Simple Plan. “From Warped Tour at the Skydome to Edgefest, Snow Jam, and Live 8, and from the Opera House to the ACC to Molson Amphitheatre, this city has hosted some of our most unforgettable shows. We always have an amazing time playing here. We know the show at the RBC Amphitheater this summer will be another epic moment for us, and we can’t wait for August 20th! We’re also really stoked to have our longtime friends Marianas Trench joining us along with Bowling For Soup and 3OH3! ”
In anticipation of the bands playing together again for the first time in 14 years (Marianas Trench supported Simple Plan on their cross Canada arena tour in 2012), Marianas Trench’s Josh Ramsay says,
“We are so excited to be sharing the stage again with our old friends. Feels like we’re getting the band back together! Plus, I think Chuck still owes me six bucks.”
