Argonauts falls to Hamilton – due to mistakes and to their ex-quarterback, Zach Collaros

Last week Toronto had another tough challenge. After an epic win against BC at Lions territory (the third greatest comeback in Canadian Football League history), quarterback Trevor Harris had another tough challenge away from home. Unfortunately for the boatman, it wasn´t another comeback: poor execution on special teams and at the defence made the difference. To make things worse, Zach Collaros (Hamilton´s quarterback) made a superb game from the first to the last pass. 

Collaros had three touchdowns as Hamilton got the win – 34-18 on the last match of the week, a Monday Night showdown. “”It felt like the East final with all the anticipation and hoopla around the game but I thought we did a good job of locking in,” Collaros said. “Winning the home opener and staying undefeated here I don’t think anybody looks at it that way but it’s always nice to play at home and you should win at home, especially in this league.”. In fact, Collaros was throwing good passes – wasn´t like he was gambling at some UK site for slots.

Zach, who used to play for Toronto, had the decisive touchdown at 3:35 of the third quarter. It was the fatal punch against the Argos. Impressive stats, indeed: Collaros finished 21-of-27 passing for 229 yards. In an offence driven league, it made the difference.”I thought the third quarter was huge, the defence getting us the stop on third down and giving us a short field,” Collaros said. “That kind of took the wind out of their sails.”, he completed. Due to the Panamerican Games, Toronto played five straight games away from home. Hamilton had not a home game this season – this one was their first, as they still undefeated in their new home, Tim Hortons Field. The stadium had it´s inauguration at the beginning of 2014 season – now the Tigercats are 8-0 at the venue. The Ticats are now 3-2, leading the East Division and with a bright future ahead, as they will play more games at home until the end of the season. Toronto has to fix a lot of issues – execution in all sides – and is also 3-2 (but loses on the tie break as they lost to Hamilton).
