“Summer In Pain” by Jimmy Whispers

The concept of this new weekly post has to do with exposure and appreciation to underground music. I find myself constantly looking for underground music, and listening to new tunes weekly so I thought, might as well give it some more exposure. I have found some amazing tracks that definitely deserve more attention than they receive, so this is a way of giving them more attention that they deserve! The criteria is that the artist/band cannot be with any major record label, and the song must have been released within the last year.

I will be posting a new track weekly, information about the artists, why I like it, and why I think you should listen to it. Enjoy!

This week’s song is “Summer In Pain” by Jimmy Whispers. This song come’s from his most recent record “Summer In Pain” which was released on March 24, 2015.

I really enjoy this song his vocal style is pretty different, I find it very loose. I don’t want to say he throws his voice around but it almost sounds like that to me, but obviously he still controls it. He uses his voice in a way that sounds like it, which makes it “different”. I like the soft subtle drumming in it, and use of the keyboard. I really like the lyrics, they’re pretty out in the open, and don’t beat around the bush. My favourite lyrics would have to be “When the Wave’s wash you back to me, I will believe in something.”  This is definitely a cool listen, and I think everyone should check it out.

Jimmy Whispers is currently with Field Mates Records (Europe), as well as Moniker Records (USA).

Lyrics:

Summer in pain sucks

Summer in pain won’t go away

I live with you here everyday

Yeah

Summer in pain won’t go away

I live with you here

Oh

When the rain washes you back to me

I get a haunting feeling I cannot explain

When the rain washes you back to me

I will believe

Yeah

Summer in hell washing over us

The waves in red blood, beer and piss

Yeah

Summer in hell apocalypse

The waves drenched with blood

Oh

When those waves come washing back to me

I get a terrible feeling I cannot explain

Yeah

When the waves come washing back to me

I will believe

I will believe in something

Oh oh

Oh oh

Oh
