“Hello everyone my name is Bryan” then came the resounding cheers in the Molson Canadian Ampitheatre. Bryan Adams played to thousands of screaming fans at the Molson Amp on Tuesday evening. He has definitely made himself into a household name, and I am pretty sure there isn’t one person on this planet that doesn’t know who Bryan Adams is young or old.
People were dancing in their seats in the hot summers evening to one of the many hits Bryan has, whether it be “Can’t Stop This Thing We Started” all the way to “Summer of ’69”. My personal favourite is “Heaven” and to the shear pleasure of my eyes and ears I listened to the audience sing the first verse of this song with very little coaxing by Bryan. The audience simultaneously started “Heaven” and Bryan let them sing their hearts out until he took over in the chorus. This was probably one of my first favourite songs by Bryan Adams and brought back a lot of memories, and ones I am choosing not to go into details but let’s just say they make me smile.
I did find the fans quite amusing to say the least, not sure if it was because it was an older crowd but in between each song they went to sit down after the song ended but not ten seconds later they got back up as soon as the next song started realizing that they really liked the next song in the set. This happened over and over again like a toilet seat at a mixed party.
Bryan Adams was the first band to open the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in 1995 and like is was yesterday the Molson Amphitheatre and Bryan haven’t missed a beat. Getting bigger and better every year. Bryan even made mention of this to the fans in the crowd, I wonder how many people are here tonight that were here 20 years ago when the venue opened.
I have to mention how clean the stage set up was, there was no fancy lights, no confetti canons, just pure white lights and a screen in the back showing various videos. And to be honest you didn’t need anything else. Kudos to the lighting guy, keeping it simple stupid works. Just focusing on the music and Bryan was all the show needed, no fancy gimmicks.
Some over exuberant fans got their time in the spotlight when Bryan was looking for a “Wild Woman”. Including my friend Roxy who danced her way onto the big screen. He picked the right woman for his “wild woman” for sure. Needless to say I laughed over this one. Not everyday you can see your friend in the big screen at Molson Canadian Amphitheatre.
I am guessing just about every single person in the venue last night sang along to “Summer of ’69” to which Bryan said “I love it when you sing” and started the song “When You’re Gone”, the singing from the fans started all over again. Hit after hit were belted out and I forgot how many hits Bryan has. One after another were played and not seeing Bryan before I was pleasantly surprised on how much I enjoyed the whole experience.
The encore was long as was the concert over two and a half hours of hit after hit. The fans even got a cameo appearance by Jim Valance who wrote many of Bryan Adam’s hits. Jim has not only written Bryan hits but international artists as well such as Tina Turner, Rod Stewart and even Ozzy Osborne. It was a great evening under heaven at the Molson Amphitheatre, the stars were shinning and the music was brilliant.
Once again thanks to the crew because without them there is no show!
