Album Reviews

“Nausea“ by Alohaha

Alohaha is a project based out of Los Angeles. Creators of this project are Jake Sinclair ( producer and frontman), and poet Lyndsay Thornton. It is an album styled after Abbey-Road, in the sense that there are two side-A and side-B medleys. “We aren’t sure if this is a record to cry to, make love to, or set on the the turntable in the early hours- probably all three.”

Nausea is the track that I chose off of Alohaha. This song is hauntingly beautiful in so many ways. This is more of a pop-style track, with a hazey feel. This track can be relatable to many people as it is about a break up. Nausea began off as a poem written by Lyndsay, and Sinclair paired it with the piece of music, and a masterpiece was made. The beginning of the track is mis-leading in the sense that it doesn’t sound like how the rest of the sound does, but this is an interesting and surprising aspect. Subtle background vocals, emotion, and catchy riffs make this song so successful and ear catching. “I made a bed out of irony, lye with me in my broken bones,” in the beginning of the chorus is so breath-taking to listen to. I chose this song because it deserves so much for attention for the thought and beauty that resides within this track.
