Bouchard falls to Vekic in 1st Round Action at Rogers Cup

During todays Women’s Rogers Cup Tennis action in Toronto, the mostly Canadian crowd was left very disappointed when Eugenie Bouchard was defeated in straight sets by Croatia’s Donna Vekic 6-3 6-4. Bouchard couldn’t get comfortable and missed a lot of shots, enough shots that she had to call her coach for help. She was frustrated and had to battle some long games as the back and forth seemed to drain Bouchard while boosting the confidence of Vekic. I feel for Bouchard and am thinking her best days are behind her as she lacks a lot of confidence and her head isn’t always into the game. Tennis is a tough sport and the competition level is immense, there is no easy way back. Her form has lacked since she became Wimbledon finalist in 2014. I Hope i’m wrong and she explodes back, who knows, maybe the U.S. Open will be her latest 15-minutes of fame.
