Song Premiere : “Just So You Know” – Vince Vanguard

Vince Vanguard is the americana singer/songwriter rising out of the ashes in a triumphant return to music. He previously owned a production company and ran a record label, but his overindulgent lifestyle that often accompanies those in music, and he lost it all. But now, he’s coming back, this time with his own music. He has been set and ready to release his debut solo album, Spirit Blues, full of songs with honest songcraft, hard truths, and personal revelations. The musicians joining Vince in the studio are Colorado-based A-list players including, Adam Deitch, drums (Lettuce), Garret Sayers, bass (The Motet), Marcus Rezak, lead guitar (solo artist, Shred is Dead), and Bill McKay, organ (formerly of Leftover Salmon and the Derek Trucks Band), among others.

He just released his new single, a country ballad with a hint of rock stylings, “Just So You Know.” He showcases his voice and skill with music production as it utilizes a twangy guitar providing a little extra to this acoustic-based song, almost acting like a chorus. It has an Allman Brothers sound to it with vocals that are reminiscent of a softer and more fluid Gregg Allman meets Warren Haynes.

While Vince’s whole album is one big story of him overcoming his demons and addiction, “Just So You Know” is the last song on the album, the one that he wrote after he got the help he needed and in the early days of his recovery. It’s a goodbye song to his relationship with alcohol, the end of one chapter and the start of a new one. He sings “Thought I could control you/Got stuck in a hole with you /And I couldn’t find my way out/Swore I could control you/My heart grew cold with you/But I’m climbing my own way out.” Not only is Vince’s voice so enticing, but the lyrics are poetic and easily get stuck in your head.
