Hey Live In Limbo!

Kyle Richardson here. I’m a pop singer-songwriter based out of Vancouver and I’m so happy to share my new single “Can You Hear Me” with you!

The Inspiration:

The inspiration behind “Can You Hear Me” came from a desire to break out of my shell. I wanted to write a song that was inspirational and bold – something that emphasizes the idea of being true to yourself and living in the moment.

Growing up, I wouldn’t always let everyone know the real me. There were aspects of my life that I hid from the people closest to me, and I feel like once I broke down that barrier and started being true to myself, everything started to fall into place and life began to make a lot more sense.
I wanted this song to emphasize the joy that comes with living your life loudly, being true to yourself, and making memories that will last a lifetime. There’s a line in the song that says “one night to show ‘em what we’re all about” and I love that line because I really believe it’s important to live in the moment.

The Creation:

The creation of “Can You Hear Me” was really fun!
It was the first time I ever wrote with Andrew Allen, and he and producer/co-writer Jeff Dawson had worked together on material in the past, so there was a good chemistry in place right off the bat. We came up with the title “Can You Hear Me” and ran with it because we loved the anthemic feel of that hook line, and we based the song around uplifting the audience and really trying to motivate people to get into the vibe of that big chorus. We kept the verses really melodic and a bit more sentimental, so when that chorus swings in, there’s no denying the message and power of what we wanted to say. We wanted the chorus to have an almost rock and roll edge, so we tried to integrate a huge, stomping drum beat in the vein of “We Will Rock You” by Queen, and we found it really helped the melody soar.

The Audience:

I think that “Can You Hear Me” is a great song for anyone who has felt like they don’t belong. It’s a song to encourage the listener to brazenly be themselves and have no regrets about it.

“Can You Hear Me” – I feel – could be especially relatable to the LGBTQIA+ community, for individuals who have felt unheard or unseen, or have perhaps not fully embraced who they are yet.

This song is a message about being true to yourself and not looking back!

Thank you for the opportunity to share it with you!
