Kicking off the new year, Matt Berninger‘s cover of New Order’s “Blue Monday” is available across all DSPs. The cover, first released as an Amazon Original in September, was a fan favourite during Berninger’s 2025 tour. Berninger hits the road again soon, including 7 stops across Canada in March.
This release follows Berninger’s critically lauded second solo album, Get Sunk, released in May 2025 via Book/Concord Records. Both the album and supporting live shows have garnered widespread praise from fans and critics alike. In addition to tracks from Get Sunk and his solo debut, Serpentine Prison, Berninger’s live sets have featured a compelling selection of covers that also include Nirvana’s “All Apologies” and Radiohead’s “Kid A”.
The “Blue Monday” cover was recorded with the same talented musicians who contributed to Get Sunk: Sean O’Brien (Electric Guitars), Garret Lang (Bass), Julia Laws (Synthesizer, Background Vocals), and Sterling Laws (Drums, Drum Programming, Percussion). The recording and production, handled by Sean O’Brien with assistance from Jannick Frampton, took place at Knobworld in Los Angeles, ensuring a seamless continuation of the sonic excellence established on Get Sunk.
