The way Augustana organized their set list was symbolic of their transition from old to new; matched up with the shedding of the band’s scruffiness and long grizzly hair cuts, the men of Augustana have moved forward to a new chapter of their career, both physically and musically. Hailing from San Diego, the band kept the attention of the younger crowd by opening their set with upbeat fan favourites, including radio singles ‘Boston’ and ‘Sweet and Low’. Despite the melodic sound of the Cant Love Can’t Hurt track ‘Fire’, the band added a rock and roll sounding flare to it, pleasing fans both new and old. Lead singer Dan Layus’ raspy voice was well received, sending the crowd into uproars even during their new, more mellow songs. Closing with a crowd sing along of ‘Shot in the Dark!’ the first single off of their new self-titled album, Augustana set the bar high for their friends in The Maine.
