The Afterbeat at Bovine Sex Club – June 24, 2011

Album: The Afterbeat – The Afterbeat

mp3: Midnight Lovers – The Afterbeat

mp3: Better Man – The Afterbeat

The Afterbeat’s music style is a fusion of Ska, Reggae, New Wave, Soul and hard rock and anything else that they might feel like at the time. Initially a straight-up ska genre band, they debuted their very first EP called ‘The Balls Out EP’ in 2003, which included the underground hit ‘Me & You’ which gained a lot of airplay across the US and Canada. Following their strong Jamaican influence, they fine tuned their style for their full length album called ‘Personals’, adding more dashes of Punk, Soul and Dancehall into the pot. Following a band lineup overhaul, the band continued on, however, becoming influenced by British Punk and Rock, but still using on the ska vibe and feel that they initially started out with. The Afterbeat have played alongside many notable artists such acts as Bedouin Soundclash, Alexisonfire, The Beat Union, The Creepshow and The Planet Smashers, just to name a few. The Afterbeat recently returned from Vancouver, Canada after recording a 7 song EP produced by Tommy Mac, the bassist of the band Hedley. The Afterbeat’s CD which should be released in the summer was also engineered by Dean Maher (AC-DC, Slayer, Elton John, Rise Against…) and will bring an exciting new spirit to the crew.
