At the recent BlackBerry LIVE 2013 conference, CEO Thorsten Heins made a rather surprising announcement that the popular and exclusive BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) service would be coming to Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android mobile operating systems this summer.
BBM has been widely considered BlackBerry’s “last gem”. It will be interesting to see if smartphone users will reacquaint themselves with BlackBerry or see no further reason to not buy Apple and Google devices.
Another speculation is that nothing will happen at all due to Apple already having the highly popular iMessages and Google set to soon launch their own service called Babel.
